Westport Credit Union Gives €100,000 to Community Projects 2025

Westport Credit Union is delighted to announce the recipients of its 2025 community fund. We launched the fund earlier in the year to support local projects that benefit the communities within our common bond.

With almost 100 applications received, 35 fantastic projects have been selected based on their potential to make a significant positive impact on the community.

The Community Groups receiving funding in 2025 are:

Lecanvey Community Centre

To purchase a generator for the community centre to provide essential services during emergencies

Louisburgh Tidy Towns

The group are going to purchase trees, shrubs, grasses, erns and materials for a proposed Community Garden in the area.

Murrisk Development Association

To install seating benches & picnic tables for the public to use.

Louisburgh GAA Club

Plan to install an energy efficient lighting system on the walkway around the pitch

Murrisk National School

To invest in a polytunnel to allow the children to grow vegetables, fruit, herbs and flowers/plants all year round

The Mulranny / Tiernaur Pipe Band

To purchase uniforms, bag pipes and drums for new band members.

Newport Junior Set Dancers

To purchase new Uniforms

Tonragee Pipe Band

Recruitment and Purchase equipment for training of new members

Ballycroy Community Council

Purchase of a Robot Vacuum Cleaner for the Ballycroy Community Centre

Glenhest Community Council Society

Install fencing, benches & fire retardant in the area

Tiernaur Hall

To install an outside defibrillator for Tiernaur Hall

Friday Afternoon Club Mulranny

To cover one years running costs of the social group for older people in the community

Cloondaff N.S.

Develop a functional school garden, with some sensory elements and features

Newport Pickleball

Run a 6 week training course for members

Newport Mayo Badminton Club

Upgrade the clubs equipment

Newport Handball Club

Buy a replacement Dehumidifier

12th Mayo Mulranny Scout Group

To purchase outdoor camping equipment

Mulranny community playgroup

Upgrade outdoor play area for local children

Ballycroy Parish Community Council - Social Services

To part fund the purchase of a replacement Meals on Wheels van.

Clew Bay Pipe Band

Purchase instruments & uniforms for children in the band

Fahy Community Development Company

Make improvements to Fahy Community centre and environs.

Westport Active Retirement

Install a defibrillator

Westport Tidy Towns

Design and develop a Biodiversity Trail in the Westport Town Area

Carrakennedy National School

Establishment of a LEGO Club in Carrakennedy NS

St Brendan's National School Community Library

Funding of coding classes for children in the community

Aughagower Athletics Club

Purchase equipment & clothing for athletes and future events

Eagle Boxing Club

To get flood prevention doors fitted

Kilmeena U-16's

Purchase Training Equipment for the team

Westport Ladies Gaelic Club

To buy new jerseys & equipment for the club

Carrakennedy Community Playschool and Afterschool

To improve the playing facilities for children at Carrakennedy Community Playschool and Afterschool.

Coderdojo Westport

To improve the playing facilities for children at Carrakennedy Community Playschool and Afterschool.

Coveys Foroige

To purchase equipment for the club

Cushlough 6th Scouts

Camping equipment

Westport Teens Foroige

Programs and activities that foster the personal, social & educational development of its members.

Westport Pickleball Club

To fund the construction of an outdoor store to hold our sports equipment.
